✅ Remediation

For Red Hat OpenShift AI 3.4.5 see the following documentation, which will be updated shortly for this release, for important instructions on how to upgrade your cluster and fully apply this errata update: https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_openshift_ai/ Workaround: Restrict access to the internal API endpoint `/api/internal/v1/users/` at the network perimeter or ingress gateway level, or enforce strict API gateway authentication and authorization rules to block unauthenticated access. Workaround: Deploy an API gateway or reverse proxy in front of the application to enforce strict Origin header allowlisting and drop cross-domain requests originating from untrusted domains. Workaround: Disable the affected WebSocket endpoint in the service configuration, or restrict access at the network boundary using ingress firewall rules or API gateway authentication policies to block unauthenticated WebSocket connections. Workaround: Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability. Workaround: The single most impactful mitigation is applying network egress controls to restrict which external destinations affected applications can reach. Because the vulnerability causes requests to be misrouted to wrong origins, limiting the set of reachable origins directly reduces the attack surface. These controls collectively limit the blast radius of the connection pool misrouting — the attacker must compromise one of the explicitly allowed destinations rather than any arbitrary origin — but they do not fix the underlying logic bug. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, users should avoid installing Python wheels from untrusted sources. It is strongly advised against using `pip install` with elevated privileges, such as `sudo`, when installing wheels. Additionally, administrators should inspect `entry_points.txt` within wheels for path separators or absolute paths before installation. Workaround: To mitigate this vulnerability, ensure that all user passwords configured for HTTP Digest authentication in affected Eclipse Jetty deployments exclusively use characters within the Latin-1 character set. This prevents the character encoding collision that leads to authentication bypass. Workaround: Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability. Workaround: Applications using the `form-data` library should implement strict input validation and sanitization for all field names and filenames derived from untrusted sources. This prevents the injection of control characters (CR, LF, ") that could lead to header injection or form field overrides. Deployments that exclusively use fixed or trusted field names are not impacted. Workaround: Do not pass untrusted or user-controlled input directly to nltk.data.load() or nltk.data.find(). Validate and sanitize any resource name parameter before use, rejecting values containing percent-encoded characters (%2f, %2e) or path traversal sequences. As defense-in-depth, set nltk.pathsec.ENFORCE = True in application code to enable file-read restrictions at the open stage (disabled by default). Workaround: There is no practical mitigation for this vulnerability. The brace-expansion package is typically a transitive dependency pulled in via minimatch and glob, making it difficult to isolate. Users should upgrade to a fixed version of brace-expansion when one becomes available. Workaround: Upgrade shell-quote to version 1.8.5. If upgrading shell-quote to version 1.8.5 or later is not immediately possible, the following mitigations can reduce exposure: 1. Validate and limit the length of any user-controlled strings before passing them to shell-quote's `parse()` function. 2. If `parse()` is not required, ensure that only the `quote()` function is used, as it is not affected by this vulnerability. Workaround: You can restrict Gateway access to some namespaces only. However, it does not prevent someone from an authorized namespace to hijack the traffic of another. Fully locking down access to the MaaS Gateway is a solution, however it defeats the self-service approach of the component. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, configure applications utilizing Vert.x HttpClient to strictly validate and restrict the URLs to which HTTP requests can be redirected. Implement allowlists for trusted domains and ensure that any user-supplied or external URLs processed by Vert.x HttpClient are thoroughly sanitized and validated to prevent redirection to attacker-controlled destinations. This may involve updating application-specific configurations or implementing custom URL validation logic. A service restart or reload may be required for changes to take effect. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, configure the `RUST_LOG` environment variable for the `vllm-orchestrator-gateway` component to a level higher than DEBUG, such as `INFO`. This will prevent the logging of sensitive authorization headers and full chat payloads to persistent logs. For example, set `RUST_LOG=info` in the deployment configuration. A restart of the affected pods or services is required for this change to take effect. Workaround: Avoid building container images using BuildKit frontends from untrusted sources. A BuildKit frontend is typically specified using a "# syntax" directive at the top of a Dockerfile, or with the "--frontend" option to the "buildctl build" command. Only use frontend images that come from a trusted source. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, avoid processing tar archives from untrusted sources. When handling archives from potentially untrusted origins, ensure that the extraction process is executed with the least privileges necessary to limit the impact of any arbitrary file write attempts. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, ensure that network policies are strictly enforced to limit access to the MLMD pod's port 8080. Restrict inbound connections to only essential KFP v2 driver pods and other designated DSP components. This measure reduces the attack surface by limiting potential in-cluster attackers who could exploit the gRPC HTTP/2 denial-of-service vulnerabilities. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, ensure that Data Science Project (DSP) namespaces enforce `pod-security.kubernetes.io/enforce: restricted`. Additionally, verify that the `pipeline-runner` ServiceAccount is not bound to `privileged` or `anyuid` Security Context Constraints (SCCs). Workaround: To mitigate this vulnerability, configure Feast deployments to utilize Kubernetes RBAC authentication. Ensure that `FeatureStore` Custom Resources (CRs) explicitly define an authentication mechanism other than `no_auth`. For Feast SDK usage, avoid the `no_auth` setting in production environments unless `FEAST_INSECURE_NO_AUTH=1` is explicitly set, acknowledging the security implications. Applying these configuration changes will require a redeployment or restart of the affected Feast services. Workaround: To mitigate this vulnerability, restrict network access to the Feast feature server to trusted clients only, using firewall rules or network policies. If the Feast feature server is configured with the default `no_auth` setting, enable Kubernetes/OIDC authentication to require user authentication for access. While enabling authentication will prevent unauthenticated exploitation, any authenticated user will still be able to trigger the denial of service due to the authorization bypass. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, restrict access to the `opendatahub` namespace to limit potential compromise of the dashboard pod. Implement egress `NetworkPolicy` rules to control and restrict outbound network traffic from the dash…
