📋 Description

CVE-2026-34993 — aiohttp: AIOHTTP: Arbitrary code execution via untrusted input to CookieJar.load() CVE-2026-78677 — GitPython: GitPython: Arbitrary Code Execution via Path Traversal

🎯 Affected products2

  • Red Hat Satellite 6.18
  • registry.redhat.io/satellite/iop-vulnerability-engine-rhel9@sha256:9a7a174de57d3d123180020ca178d9a9ccbc899892fbf03a5179ff54c4666b1f_amd64 as a component of Red Hat Satellite 6.18

✅ Remediation

For Red Hat Lightspeed in Satellite installation see the Red Hat Satellite documentation. Workaround: Applications using AIOHTTP that are configured to load untrusted files via the `CookieJar.load()` function should implement input sanitization prior to loading. This prevents the injection of malicious code. Workaround: To mitigate this vulnerability, upgrade to GitPython version 3.1.59 or later, which correctly includes `--separate-git-dir` in the unsafe options denylist. If upgrading is not immediately possible, ensure that the `separate_git_dir` parameter is never populated from untrusted or user-controlled sources. Applications should validate and sanitize any input before passing it to GitPython cloning methods, or avoid exposing the `separate_git_dir` parameter to external callers entirely.
