HIGHPre-NVD 8.38.3—
EchelonGraph scoreMEDIUM confidence

This high-severity CVE scores 8.3 under a secondary CVSS source (NVD's own analysis pending). EPSS exploit probability: 0.3% (18th percentile of EPSS-scored CVEs). GitHub Security Advisory data not yet ingested — confidence will rise once GHSA publishes (typical lag: hours to days for open-source ecosystem CVEs; never for infrastructure-only CVEs).

Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. From 16.0.0 until 16.3.8, Image Optimization can follow attacker-controlled DNS resolution for a remote URL that matches images.remotePatterns, allowing the optimized image fetch to reach private IP addresses after the URL passes the allow-list check. Applications without images.remotePatterns are not affected. Administrators unable to upgrade should audit allow-listed hosts and avoid entries whose DNS records are not trusted. This issue is fixed in version 16.3.8.

Exploitation none (no KEV listing, exploit record or EPSS ≥ 50%) · Automatable unknown (not published for this CVE) · Technical impact partial (CVSS below 9.0). Mission impact is CISA's Mission & Well-being decision point, and only you can judge it: high means the affected system is essential to your organisation's mission, or its compromise could cause irreversible harm to people.
