✅ Remediation
For details on how to apply this update, which includes the changes described in this advisory, refer to: https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258 Workaround: To mitigate this vulnerability, prevent the `rdma_rxe` kernel module from loading. Create a file `/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-rdma_rxe.conf` with `blacklist rdma_rxe`. Regenerate the initramfs using `sudo dracut -f -v` (or `sudo mkinitrd -f -v /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r).img $(uname -r)` for older systems) and reboot. This action may impact functionality dependent on the RDMA/rxe driver. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, prevent the `vmw_pvrdma` kernel module from loading. Create a file named `/etc/modprobe.d/disable-vmw_pvrdma.conf` with the following content: `install vmw_pvrdma /bin/true`. A system reboot is required for this change to take effect. Disabling this module may impact functionality if VMware paravirtual RDMA devices are actively used. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, disable the `ipv6` kernel module at boot using the kernel command-line parameter: ``` grubby --update-kernel=ALL --args="ipv6.disable=1" ``` A reboot is required for this change to take effect. To verify after reboot: ``` cat /proc/cmdline | grep -o ipv6.disable=1 sysctl net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 ``` Applications or services that rely on the IPv6 protocol cannot use this mitigation and should prioritize applying the fix.
