✅ Remediation

For OpenShift Container Platform 4.21 see the following documentation, which will be updated shortly for this release, for important instructions on how to upgrade your cluster and fully apply this asynchronous errata update: https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.21/html/release_notes/ You may download the oc tool and use it to inspect release image metadata for x86_64, s390x, ppc64le, and aarch64 architectures. The image digests may be found at https://quay.io/repository/openshift-release-dev/ocp-release?tab=tags. The sha values for the release are as follows: (For x86_64 architecture) The image digest is sha256:1f8f423477982ce16193469c26f8941ba797a6f4fc3b3621a5d426ae19deb457 (For s390x architecture) The image digest is sha256:9b35c91c404bc64aabd3f2f6d76724b8b37f94fea2d70ea333113f18e9c21e1a (For ppc64le architecture) The image digest is sha256:def851862f1184cb7ea13d2466f25692e17e88d46d8dd0dd0ba818952eee9ce2 (For aarch64 architecture) The image digest is sha256:f74f869cc6c38939fa1f541814da83d3c56014230b055b20907b9c0227dd7c7c All OpenShift Container Platform 4.21 users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages and images when they are available in the appropriate release channel. To check for available updates, use the OpenShift CLI (oc) or web console. Instructions for upgrading a cluster are available at https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.21/html-single/updating_clusters/index#updating-cluster-cli. Workaround: Restrict unprivileged users from creating symlinks in directories that privileged processes operate on with ACL commands. Where possible, use the fs.protected_symlinks sysctl (enabled by default on RHEL 7+), which prevents symlink following in world-writable sticky directories unless the owner of the symlink matches the owner of the target file or directory. Workaround: To mitigate this issue, OpenSSH clients should only connect to trusted SSH servers. Enforcing strict host key checking and carefully managing `known_hosts` files can help prevent connections to servers with unexpected or altered host keys, thereby reducing exposure to this client-side vulnerability.
