CVE-2026-39831

CRITICALPre-NVD 9.19.1
EchelonGraph scoreMEDIUM confidence

This critical-severity CVE scores 9.1 under CISA-ADP (Vulnrichment) CVSS v3.1 (NVD's own analysis pending). EPSS exploit probability: 0.4%, top 65% of all CVEs by exploit prediction. GitHub Security Advisory data not yet ingested — confidence will rise once GHSA publishes (typical lag: hours to days for open-source ecosystem CVEs; never for infrastructure-only CVEs).

A fix is available — apply it.

The Verify() method for FIDO/U2F security key types ([email protected], [email protected]) did not check the User Presence flag. Signatures generated without physical touch were accepted, allowing unattended use of a hardware security key. To restore the previous behavior, return a "no-touch-required" extension in Permissions.Extensions from PublicKeyCallback.
