HIGHPre-NVD 8.88.8
EchelonGraph scoreLOW confidence

This high-severity CVE scores 8.8 under CISA-ADP (Vulnrichment) CVSS v3.1 (NVD's own analysis pending). EPSS exploit-prediction score not yet available (the EPSS model rescores nightly; freshly-published CVEs typically appear within 48 hours). GitHub Security Advisory data not yet ingested — confidence will rise once GHSA publishes (typical lag: hours to days for open-source ecosystem CVEs; never for infrastructure-only CVEs).

A fix is available — apply it.

Jenkins 2.554 and earlier, LTS 2.541.2 and earlier does not safely handle symbolic links during the extraction of .tar and .tar.gz archives, allowing crafted archives to write files to arbitrary locations on the filesystem, restricted only by file system access permissions of the user running Jenkins. This can be exploited to deploy malicious scripts or plugins on the controller by attackers with Item/Configure permission, or able to control agent processes.
