The setFrom function in the Sendmail adapter in the zend-mail component before 2.4.11, 2.5.x, 2.6.x, and 2.7.x before 2.7.2, and Zend Framework before 2.4.11 might allow remote attackers to pass extra parameters to the mail command and consequently execute arbitrary code via a \" (backslash double quote) in a crafted e-mail address.
CVE-2016-10034
This critical-severity CVE scores 9.8 under NVD CVSS v3. EPSS exploit probability: 82.3%, top 1% of all CVEs by exploit prediction. GitHub Security Advisory data not yet ingested — confidence will rise once GHSA publishes (typical lag: hours to days for open-source ecosystem CVEs; never for infrastructure-only CVEs).
- High severity, but no confirmed exploitation yet
No vendor fix yet — apply a workaround or compensating control (WAF / firewall / segmentation) and watch for a patch.
